On a visit to Vienna, Austria, in 1983, Dan contacted the "Austrian Sound Hunters", an amateur recordist club and showed catalog pictures of the Telefunken Ela M 270 stereo microphone and made note of his interest. Subsequently, Dan purchased the unique Telefunken Ela M 270 Stereo Microphone.
